GameStop Credit Card Review

Nice rewards
The GameStop PowerUp Rewards Credit Card can help gamers rack up 40 points per $1 spent on all purchases with a Pro membership and 20 points per $1 spent on all purchases without a Pro membership. The Pro membership normally costs $25 per year, but the card gets you a free year when you activate it.
There's also an initial bonus, but it's worth just $5, and there's the potential for sporadic discounts moving forward. Nevertheless, getting this card likely means leaving a lot of value on the table compared to the market's best rewards credit cards.
No Annual Fee
The GameStop PowerUp Credit Card has many faults, but its fee structure is not among them. With no annual fee, it is $22.22 cheaper than the average credit card, according to WalletHub's latest Credit Card Landscape Report. With that being said, the GameStop Card is far from the only no-annual-fee rewards card on the market, so it's worth looking for a more lucrative offer.
Best for People with Fair Credit
As is the case with most store credit cards, you can get approved for the GameStop PowerUp Card with just “fair” credit. And since people with fair credit should prioritize low costs over other credit card features, this isn't a bad choice for folks focused on credit-building. If that's your aim, don't forget that you can monitor your progress withWalletHub's free daily credit score updates.

Can I use a GameStop Credit Card anywhere?
Reply
Maria Adams, Credit Cards Moderator
@m_adams
No, you cannot use a GameStop Credit Card anywhere you want, as you can only use it for purchases at GameStop stores and on gamestop.com. This is a store card, which means that it is not backed by any major credit card network and only works at affiliated locations.
Even though store credit cards have limited acceptance, they can still be a good deal for brand-loyal customers. The GameStop Credit Card offers 20 points / $1 spent without a GameStop Pro membership and 40 points / $1 with a...

You can get a GameStop Credit Card cash advance at any ATM using your card and your PIN code.
You can also take your card and ID to a teller at your local bank to ask for a cash advance.
Please keep in mind that cash advances are extremely expensive. They have a high interest rate without a grace period, but also a cash advance fee and depending on the location, you could...

The GameStop Credit Card has a $0 annual fee, so it shouldn't cost you anything as long as you pay your full statement balance by the due date each month to avoid interest. The only fees are for late or returned payments and payments made over the phone.

How does a GameStop Credit Card work?
Reply
Maria Adams, Credit Cards Moderator
@m_adams
A GameStop Credit Card works like a regular credit card, on a buy-now-pay-later basis. When you use a GameStop Credit Card to make a purchase, you're borrowing money from the issuer to complete the transaction, and then repaying the amount by the due date, either in part or in full.
If you pay a credit card bill in full each month, you will avoid interest charges. Interest will apply if you do not pay the bill in full, and...

Use it to purchase games/consoles at GameStop. Don't use the card for much else. Comes in handy for large video game related purchases that can be paid overtime when you don't want to drop a lump sum of money at one time.

Fighting a two year old credit dispute that I've already paid for. They keep tacking on late fees after multiple conversations. If you prefer lousy service to say getting a colonoscopy, comenity bank may be perfect for you!

GameStop on Flatbush is great! All the employees are very helpful! Sabrina went over and beyond to help me! When I needed help the most she helped figure out what I needed for that very day which was my son's 13th Birthday. I couldn't find what I was looking for anywhere else and she made sure to find it and find my account online! She literally saved the day!

Very low starting limit even with a high credit score and the worst customer service. Definitely not worth an inquiry. There’s so many cards out there with better rewards and higher limits. I closed the day I got it because of the low limit.

Don't get this card! On top of the poor rewards, high-interest rate, and poor customer service the bank has changed my credit limit 4 times in 3 years. I paid off the card in January 2020 and haven't used it in 45 days. They closed my account due to inactivity, in spite of the fact that I have never made a late payment. The reason, I don't own a home.
